Welcome to our first Man Monday where each week I’ll be blogging about all the latest and greatest frugal, fashion finds for Irish guys.
These days, men are just as image conscious as the fairer sex … so if you’re a guy who loves having a sneaky read of your girlfriend’s fashion mags, or you’re a girl who desperately wants to update your boyfriend’s naff wardrobe – you may find some of these weekly tips useful.
This week I’ve been trying out braces instead of belts; a really simple accessory that adds interest to plain shirts and t-shirts, creating a preppy or nerdy look.
Braces can initially feel a bit awkward and fiddly when you’re getting used to them – but give them a chance if you’re looking for an accessory that can add some immediate personality to an outfit.
I got these bad boys in H&M for just €6.95 – a bargain price since many vintage stores stock braces from around €15 upwards.
I also picked up some oversized glasses while I was in H&M (which I got for a thrifty €7.95) to complete the geeky look.
The braces I bought are plain: black with silver buckles but you can find braces with all sorts of unique colours and patterns such as the gorgeous patterned ones pictured above from ASOS.com.

I think this could be a good look for us gals too (the braces that is). Would work well with preppy tartan skirts for autunm. Not so sure about the Clark Kent glasses though.
A must have indeed
Right. Mr Fly is sooo getting a pair of those.
