I know we should all be thinking of buying presents for others (ahem) and I defnitely don’t need any new handbags (double ahem), but a few Irish handbag makers have recently caught my attention.
While browsing in the Loft Market at Powerscourt Centre, I came across Rodolfo Dequina’s amazing handcrafted leather bags. His minimalist and timeless bags are made using using genuine cow skin leather, suede and lamb skin sourced and re-purposed in Ireland. I love this Sally tote, a splurge at €210 but a bargain due to the quality of leather and craftmanship.
I also love Anna Faye’s bags, available at Kilkenny. These quality bags are also a bit of a splurge, but are an excellent alternative to a designer bag where you’re paying for the name – not the quality. This vibrant purple bag at €250 is perfect for adding punch to black outfits while the black bag is a timeless classic that will go with everything, €190.
Now I’ll probably have to start scouring flea markets and charity shops to find more prudent alternatives!
